The Madrone Hospice Interdisciplinary Team includes medical director, nurse, social worker, chaplain, therapists, dietitian and volunteers working with the patient, family and attending physician to help:
- manage symptoms and control pain,
- reduce the fears and suffering of patients and families, and
- provide comfort.
Our services may be provided in a patient’s home, residential care, assisted living or skilled nursing facility or in the Hospice House.
Hospice provides these services at no charge, based on patient and family wishes and needs including:
- nursing care and instruction to caregivers,
- social services and counseling for the patient and family,
- physical, occupational & speech therapy,
- dietary counseling,
- emotional and spiritual support,
- personal care services,
- practical support and respite care by trained volunteers,
- bereavement counseling and support to family members,
- 24 hour on-call support
- coordination of medical equipment, supplies and drugs related to the terminal diagnosis.
Medicare, MediCal and most private insurance companies provide a Hospice Benefit which reimburses hospice to provide medical equipment, supplies and drugs related to the terminal diagnosis at no cost to the patient.
The Medicare and Medical Hospice Benefit also provides Respite Care, Inpatient Care and Continuous Care as determined appropriate by the hospice team.
